Welcome to the Texarkana Montessori School!
Texarkana Montessori School serves children ages 12 weeks to 5 years by providing Montessori education and social experience in a home-like environment of small class sizes.
Our curriculum, North American Montessori Center Curriculum, is based on an individualized approach that meets each child at their current developmental level. We also use Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Curriculum in the Toddler and Children’s House Communities. The outdoor playground is an inviting nature-inspired space and the grounds outside are great for safe exploration and short nature walks.

What We Do Each Day
Our didactic daily schedule nurtures a sense of independence and self-reliance as well as encourages curiosity and play to make learning a joyful experience.

Prepared environment
Our teachers prepare the environment of the Montessori classroom with carefully selected, aesthetically arranged materials that are presented sequentially to meet the developmental needs of the children using the space.

Practical life activities
Children in our classrooms learn to take care of themselves and their environment through activities such as hand washing, dusting, and mopping which foster independence, concentration, and build motor skills.

Freedom within limits
Our classrooms are thoughtfully designed to encourage children to move about freely and choose their own work, within reasonable limits of appropriate behavior while being respectful of others and their environment.

Why Montessori?
The Montessori method of education provides children with positive learning opportunities that can foster essential life skills: a love of learning, curiosity, a sense of independence and refined social skills and adaptability.
A recent study shows that an early childhood experience in Montessori solidifies these skills for a lifetime:
- Attending a Montessori school for at least two years was associated with significantly higher levels of well-being, engagement, social trust, and self-confidence.
- A second analysis in the study found that the difference in well-being between Montessori and conventional schools existed even among those students that had exclusively attended private schools.
- The study’s third analysis found that the more years a child attended Montessori, the higher one’s well-being as an adult.
